Children’s Literacy

For pre-K and elementary-age children

Program Description

Building Strong Readers from the Start

Our Children's Literacy summer program supports families participating in Literacy Council programs by providing children with a safe, engaging environment while parents and caregivers attend classes.

Early literacy means helping children develop a rich vocabulary, self-expression, and reading comprehension, tools they need to become successful readers and lifelong learners.

Established in 2013, the program helps remove barriers that might otherwise prevent parents from participating in educational programs.

Program Details

The Children's Literacy summer program is available to children whose parents or caregivers are enrolled in Literacy Council ESL classes. Participants must remain actively enrolled and in good standing with class attendance.

Student Success Story

Luke and Nina’s Story

English is “hard to learn”, but Luke is now an intermediate-level student with a solid grasp of the language basics. Nina, too, now has a tutor at the Literacy Council and is one of the fastest learners in our program.
